the thieves that got away with the very important part of the miss america pageant. our temperature down to 67 degrees under clear skies. still some linger breezes this morning but they're lighter. we'll keep those light breezes around through the morning as temperatures gradually warm this afternoon up to 83 degrees. a sunny dry day. we'll talk about what to expect this weekend. mallory. taking a look at the right now. we do have an i'm not sure if it's a crash or a stall. right near northern. it's stopped right now. looks like they're starting to let some of those go on the right-hand side. the hov lane has been blocked. they just moved it over to the side but you are going to see a lot of slowing. also want to give you a heads up on i-10 b. all the way aback to 83rd avenue. i'm going to give you another

you are acting in riot es manner. >> people are upset the election didn't go their way. donald trump is elected president. in portland, oregon things certainly got out of hand. out of control. rows of cars at a dealership were damaged. all the windows busted out. some of the cars just banged up. there protesters smashing the businesses. lighting fire crackers. lighting fires. doing a lot of damage. officers forced tear gas on some of those protesters. and about 26 people were arrested. but dan oregon not the only place. >> chris yeah, new york, chicago

freeway again. this video from columbus, ohio. hundreds taking to the streets marching several miles. back in the valley protests much more peaceful. we've lefrned that there are two more marches planned for today. whether it is students or adults. people at 11:00 from south mountain high. this is to downtown phoenix from 3:00 to 7:00. on asu's campus. but a valley marches is telling a lot of their people to stand down. abc 15's katie connor live. is this a lot of surprise to folks. >> reporter: yeah, it is black lives matter tooktor their facebook page posting this asking what are you protesting you should have actually voted. the group goes on to say just because we don't get the president we want doesn't make

chosen. they go on to fiepd a way to restructure the system and we know that more protests are planned in the valley today at asu and at south mountain high school. a total of 400 high school students walked out of class yesterday and there are concerns teachers were helping organize the protests. coming up at 6:30 we'll break down what the district is saying about this. a driver slammed into bunch of cars. the 25-year-old driver was drinking and acting on road rage. he was eventually arrested fortunately nobody seriously hurt there. an escaped captured after a three week long chase. we are now hearing from the

let's talk about our most accurate forecast on this veteran's day. our temperatures this morning 67 degrees. i think we will cool a little bit further into the mid 60s before we start to warm back up. 65 by 7:00 a.m. and then warming back into the the 70s by 9:00 here this morning. the veteran's day parade starts at 11:00. temperatures in the upper 70s by then. so very nice if you are going to be heading out earlier in the morning to maybe pick your spot along the parade route. temperatures will warm into the 80s this afternoon but today of 83 degrees. it's just one degree warmer than what we felt yesterday. overall should be a nice day. light winds. as you think about the weekend maybe you're thinking about heading out to pir. abc15 desert drive times. i want to give you a look at this crash that i told you about

the hov lane. you can see traffic is very heavy. it's always heavy around this time. make sure you stay to the right to get by that. and then on i-17 i do want to correct myself. i think i said i-17 southbound. looks like this is in the northbound direction. all lanes are clear at this point. i-17 northbound has been slow for about a mile approaching that and just remember a heads up we do have a our crew is on the scene. we'll try to get you some more details but it may be an area you want to avoid. next on abc15 morning think before you post. two mesa teens getting advice from police after their halloween pumpkin offends their classmates. >> plus immigrants here in the valley unsure of what the future might hold. how they're planning to protect families under the new president.

12 minutes after 6:00 and right now we're going to a serious crash in phoenix. police officers are saying one person is trapped in a car. could we take it tvu 1 please. phoenix fires assessing the situation. dan, the minut get a bit closer or new information i'll let you know. a special day today. the theme this year welcome home vietnam heroes. this is the 20th year for the phoenix veteran's day parade. the floats already warming up. cool stuff going on there justin pazera is out there. >> these young ladies are going

you they're just going to be just a few of the folks that are going to be taking part in the parade as thousands lines streets in phoenix. we're going to have about 18 floats making their way through the area. there's going to be about 15 marching bands also huge balloons. this is just a really good way to remember some of these veterans and you can just see thousands of folks lining the streets. so here's the deal. the parade starts off it's going to make its way down central. it's going to head east of camel back and then it's going to head south of 7th street. so again that parade is going to kick off at 11:00. you can expect some traffic restrictions. as you can see back out here live they are already starting to line up and practice and get ready for today's big events. we're live in phoenix justin pazera. >> not going to lie that's some impressive stuff there.

are raising new questions over lawsuits over disabled parking issues. seeking non profit status. a legal expert we talked with says that could mean more trouble for that group. they are already under fire for filing hundreds of lawsuits seeking thousands of dollars in damages for minor parking lot infractions. i want to battle for mosul. a senior commander. that according to iraqi military sources and a senior figure in the militant setup if you will was killed. isis is now confirming his death in a video monotage that they've sent out. iraqi forces iraqi officials i

were involved in the washington bridge closure. against the democratic mayor. a former illinois congressman forced to step down in the wake of a wire fraud and theft scandal and is now facing federal charges. representative aaron shock accused of lavish spendings specifically remodelling his capital office. he also apparently spent money on real estate deals and expensive trips. shock calls it all an honest mistake. well it's not even wild fire season really. we are certainly on the wild fire watch as crews battle more than 20 active fires in the southeast. evacuations are under way in several counties. more than 17,000 acres have burned. strong winds causing this one to jump fire containment lines and

mother nature not helping out because many of those areas are so dry. >> right, and you know what the southern tear of the united states will likely stay dry as we go through the winter season. that tends to mean drier and warmer conditions for us too. it could only get worse. now let's talk about our most accurate forecast. in case you're getting out the doors today. we are looking at a nite nice morning. 50s, 60s, even a few 70s lingering across the valley the the down to' 69 degrees in glendale and down to 57 in in mesa. also goodyear in the upper 50s. but we are still holding on to that 70 degrees at scottsdale with 67 at phoenix sky harbor. so very nice morning. clear skies. and abc desert doppler has been dry for days across the valley and across the state and it is

that way. we did have a disturbance off to our southeast. that keeping the rain well off to our east. enough for rain chances. nothing but clear skies this morning and we're going to keep those clear skies in the forecast across the valley. across northern and across western arizona. a few high clouds in the southeast pocket of our state. otherwise dry conditions today. dry tomorrow as well. i do want to point out some changes by sunday. check out those clouds. they start moving in from the northwest and they across the valley through the day on sunday. we'll see those clouds but it's not likely we're going to see any rain from that disturbance. so for today 67 now. warm to 79 by noon and today's high 83 degrees. with some light breezes. as you look at that 7-day forecast with me we'll go from 83 today and stay in the low 80s

a dry forecast. we'll see those mid to upper 80s by tuesday. but check out these changes. wednesday into thursday another storm system moves in. more clouds on wednesday. we'll go from mid 80s on wednesday to mid 70s by next thursday. so something to look forward to. we'll talk about that hour by hour weekend forecast in just a few minutes. and iris i want to head back out to this crash on 35th avenue. these are some live pictures she is on the scene as she tweeted out that someone in the car had to be extricated or taken to the hospital. you'll probably want to avoid that area. 43rd avenue could be a much better option for you. we're up to a 20-minute desert drive time. this is eastbound from the 101 to the 17. a little bit of good news. that crash at 51st avenue is no longer blocking the hov area.

outlook in just minutes mallory. and iris we do have a couple of crashes on our freeway right now. you're slow to about 83rd avenue and i-17 northbound near northern those delays have eased up for the most part. we have this crash. 35th avenue. sounds like you cannot use 35th and for more on this crash let's send things over to chris. >> that driver of that car was trapped for allison rodriguez allison, this thing looks really nasty over your shoulder there. >> it was really nasty. let me walk you through what police say happened . they say that, a car. you see all of that damage there on the front end. that's actually a white chevy impala. let's come over here. they say that car was actually heading northbound through over

lanes. it actually hit that vehicle, that vehicle over there was parked that white looking color suv over there was parked. it continued spinning and then hit that truck over there. somebody was driving it. that driver was trapped inside. officer tells me that they were actually unconscious inside. but once fire crews got in and started taking them out. they say they believe he was very intoxicated. can you tell there was a beer can on top of there. so this person they believe was intoxicated. they were taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. i'm told it's going to take another hour to get them cleared. meanwhile chaos erupting overnight in portland oregon. by the way this happening this morning. it it was while your were

they're angry about president elect donald trump and now it's escalated to portland police are calling these riots. 26 people arrested and i want to show you some video on twitter. they went after car dealerships. is that something else or what. destroying these cars and at one point protesters these two groups. and the police warning those to avoid the anarchists destroying property. that's their words. those arrested could face felony charges. no officers thankfully injured dan. the president race called in arizona. this is a look at the final tally. trump reeing 49% of the vote and

protests over the election have turned violent overnight. protests hopefully not violent. our plan for today abc15's katie connor live today. >> reporter: students plan to hit the day today to protest. unfortunately our protests have remained we've watched hundreds of high school students walk out of class. a few teachers are helping to organize this. if so, the district says they could get in trouble. now phoenix police department is taking action to make sure these students stay safe. they posted on their facebook page on how to do a protest properly. they believe these students will be future leaders and activists so they wanted to guide them in the right direction.

encouraging this. violent behavior will not be tolerated. happening this morning. this was a crash this west phoenix caused by a man fleeing from police in a stolen car. they got behind him. it was a short pursuit. it happened this morning. i want you to listen to what i was listening to as this was unfolding in the news room. >> they got him. south of indian school right now. he crashed. he's at gun >> we also uncovered a gun inside of the vehicle. >> you see the scene right there. officers say they got behind that vehicle because it had been reported stolen during an armed robbery. the 23-year-old driver is now in custody. the innocent driver who this criminal ran into he was not seriously injured. chris, a final good-bye in the works for a hero taken from

almost three times the legal limit. both of mindy's legs are broken. she's fighting to keep both of them. her friend also in that car out of the hospital and in rehab chris. maybe you have the day off today maybe you're walking around the house doing what you need to do but i need you to look at the screen. this is a warning coming in from police. they are looking at this man. he's a person of interest in a california but hiding out somewhere in the valley. 23-year-old tony macias he goes by other names such as tony gutierrez. if you see this guy call 911 immediately. two men caught on video robbing a cellphone store in phoenix. this happened tuesday near central and southern. they stole a worker's cash, purse, merchandise. take a look at your screen.

i'm justin pazera. live in phoenix where folks are lining up. you can see some of the floats back here behind me. this is the one from the arizona department of corrections right here. that one was made by some inmates and if we just kind of look over here you can see this truck here. an army veteran spent 800 hours sketching this actually engraving his own truck. his ford he did that all kind of free style. this parade is going to kick off at 11:00 this morning. we're going to have 18 floats making their way down the street. there's also going to be some huge balloons but there's also a special float this year with about 20 vietnam veterans on it. this is video from last year's parade. you can see thousands of folks

suicide bomber who ran through the compound there. killing people injuring more than 100. this includes an officer and a doctor who were killed. witnesses say the blasts were so powerful more than a half mile away or so it was shattering windows. the taliban saying they sent the bombers dan. maybe you can find a job working with the donald trump administration. the president elect looking to fill 4,000 positions on his if you want to apply go to greatagain.gov. if you don't want to apply they're still asking for ideas if you'd like to contribute. one of donald trump's local critics from his own party told us america deserves better but now that trump won he says he is willing to support the president elect. >> i have not spoken to him yet but the speech that he gave was encouraging right after he won.

more high clouds. there is going to be a disturbance that moves across. so plan on mostly sunny skies. temperatures in the low 80s each afternoon with those morning temperatures in the 60s. so if if you've got plans to get out-dooris temperatures will stay in the 60s through 9:00 both days then we warm into the mid 80s or low to mid 80s rather top out in the low to mid 80s by the mid afternoon with cool weekend as well. i'll show you that 7-day forecast next. and iris things can quieting down on the roads from our century link prism traffic center. i do want to give you a heads up about a weekend closure. this is the red mountain freeway closed from i-10 to 44th the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. it lasts through tomorrow night. just take the 10 instead. we also have a new crash on the east valley. loop 101 northbound at broadway road.

school students leave class. an escaped prisoner back behind bars this morning after a three week long search. authorities say rudolpho avalos. that victim telling us she was able to escape and run to safety. we now know what caused this fire at a chandler business. police say flames spread after a plastic barrel caught fire. several fire companies responding to nearby buildings had to be evacuated. all right. let's look at your 7-day forecast. today a very nice veteran's day. into the low 80s. somewhat below average. it won't be too bad. 83 this afternoon. tomorrow staying in the low 80s. the weekend will be nice. plan on some more clouds on sunday but no rainfall in the forecast. we do have a warm up coming into early next week. upper 80s by tuesday but then
